Statement of Belief

What do we believe?

We respect you for pursuing this information, as we believe that we are to test all things against the Word of God (1 Thessalonians 5:21). We don’t believe that all who are saved agree on every aspect of God’s Word and it’s meaning, but we do believe that all believers agree on the Gospel. We often have discussions with fellow saints that do not agree on every iota of theology and scripture, but we do ask all guests to agree on the items below prior to coming on the show.

The Pantry Podcast’s Statement of Belief

The Bible

We believe the Bible in it’s original text is the inspired Word of God, without error and fully complete. The Word of God is the authority for faith and all of life (Psalm 1:2-3, Psalm 89:34, Psalm 119, Joshua 1:8) and man’s opinion cannot supercede it (Psalm 33:10-11, Isaiah 55:8-9, 1 Kings 18:21, Proverbs 18:2).

The Trinity

We believe in the Trinity of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:14, John 14:16-17), God existing eternally in all three persons.

The Father is the creator of the universe and responsible for all life’s existence.

The Son, Jesus Christ, as described in John 1:1-18, is fully man and fully God. He lived a sinless life on earth and freely gave Himself up as our kinsman redeemer to be crucified on a cross as payment for our sins. He defeated death, rose from the grave, and ascended to Heaven to one day return and establish His kingdom (Revelation 21) for all eternity.

The Holy Spirit resides in all believers and is our Advocate who leads us into all truth (John 14: 15-17).

Sin

We believe sin came into man and the world through the individual choices to disobery God in the Garden of Eden. Through this, the relationship with God became a broken one that can only be redeemed through Christ and one’s belief in the Gospel of Jesus Christ (John 8:24, Romans 10:9-13, John 3:16, Ephesians 2:8-9). We are born into sin because of Adam, but can be born again into Spirit because of Jesus (Romans 5:12).

Salvation

We believe salvation cannot be lost once it is received. It is a free gift of God possible because of God’s grace and paid for by Jesus Christ’s finished work on the cross, against death, when He rose again on the third day. Each individual chooses to receive this free gift or to reject it (1 Peter 1:18. Romans 10:12-17, Mark 16:16, Ephesians 1:7 and 2:8-9).

We believe that is it not a sign of salvation to agree on every aspect of theology with another saved saint. Belief of the Gospel is required for salvation and is the only thing that all saved brothers and sisters in Christ must agree on to be saved. Disagreements within other areas of God’s Word are not a sign that one is an unbeliever (Romans 14:1-23).

Life

We believe man (male and female) are created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26-27). We are formed in the womb by God (Psalm 139:13) and possess personhood from conception (Jeremiah 1:4-5, Genesis 25:22-26). We are promised eternity as a part of believing in the Gospel (1 John 2:25, John 5:24), though our current fleshly bodies do fade (1 Peter 1:24).

Marriage

We believe God created marriage to be between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24) and is a way of revealing the meaning of Jesus Christ and His bride, the church (Ephesians 5:25-27, Revelation 19:7-9).
